Wellness Ideas to Engage Attendees at Virtual Events and Conferences

Taking your events virtual comes with its own set of challenges. Because your attendees are on their computers, losing their attention is just one click away. Therefore, keeping your audience engaged is just as important as your education and speaker content. But no worries, transforming your virtual event from valuable to unforgettable is not impossible. Here are some creative wellness-centered engagement ideas for your next online conference that you can easily implement to wow everyone.

1. Use your mobile event app or e-mail automation to send personalized push notifications

Remind your attendees that their scheduled keynote starts in 10 minutes or share fun facts and healthy tips saying: “Take a sip.” or “Don’t forget to stand up and stretch.” Utilizing notifications can make your attendees feel special, like the whole event was made just and only for them.

2. Offer a morning yoga class

Invite a yoga instructor to lead a live-stream morning class. This will give your attendees a big boost of energy for the day and get them ready for all the education seminars and networking that’s on the event agenda. Learn more about the benefits of yoga and how you can make your conference stand out.

3. Show that you care with wellness meditation breaks

Learning and gathering information online requires an alert and engaged mind, just like any live event or in-person conference would. People are not computers; help your attendees relax and recharge in between education sessions. Offer an online meditation workshop in the afternoon to show that you care and appreciate your audience’s needs.

4. Panel sessions on health are as important as any other educational discussion

The spread of COVID-19 has turned our daily lives upside down. Add an informative panel session to your agenda that educates on wellness and mindfulness. Give your attendees an opportunity to learn how they can optimize their stress and improve overall well-being.

5. Host a virtual fitness challenge and give your sponsors another touchpoint

How about a virtual 5K run or a full-body HIIT challenge? Encourage your attendees to share their achievements and selfies on their social media channels using a branded hashtag for a chance to win attractive prizes.

Your fitness challenges and yoga sessions are a wonderful opportunity for your sponsors to get maximum exposure. Tying sponsorship to engagement activities as such will make people pay more attention to the brand, thus providing your sponsor more bang for their buck.

6. Host a workshop or a Lunch & Learn on mental health

The current coronavirus pandemic situation has affected millions of people not just physically, but also psychologically. Stress, anxiety, and mental health issues are on the rise. To promote education, eliminate the stigma around mental health and provide emotional relief, offer your attendees an intimate lunch & learn discussion.

7. Mail your attendees a wellness swag bag

Everyone gets excited when they receive a package. If you have your attendee’s email or physical address, you can send them items relevant to a certain session or personalized gifts. You can partner up with YogaHub and surprise your attendees with an e-gift card for a post-event virtual yoga class or mail out t-shirts before your conference for your audience to wear throughout the event. Sending items in preparation for your virtual event will also reduce your no-show rate.
