My Yoga Teacher Training Experience: Diversity and Inclusion in Yoga
Jonique has been a dedicated and dynamic YogaHub student for many years. Her love for yoga practice and mindfulness led her to complete her training as a yoga teacher. Her experience as a new yoga instructor and her reflections as a woman of color in this industry inspired her to share her journey with us in honor of black history month. My name is Jonique.
My name is Jonique and I am 23 years old. I am currently working on obtaining a master’s degree in biomedical sciences with the intent of going to medical school. I am the daughter of two immigrant parents — my mother originating from Jamaica and my father from Cape Verde. The reason why I share my story and background with you is to discuss my own personal thoughts and feelings surrounding the racial injustices in America.
